When there’s not a lot happening but you need a story
This is an insidious technique that has become more and more prevalent this year, and is either orchestrated by ‘celebs’ agents to get tabloid inches or more likely by some lazy reporting.
In short whoever is the flavour of the month and guaranteed to get some clicks is an easy target to create a story about, even when there isn’t one.
An ongoing favourite is any of the Kardashian / Jenner clan as they have millions of followers so by association any story will get people reading.
Take Kylie Jenner as an example….
The story here is literally she put on a black dress, no seriously that’s it. When it's a slow news day they simply go down all the Celebs Instagram feeds to find their latest post, and then go into way too much detail to tell you what you are looking at (We thought a picture was supposed to paint a thousand words not need them!) to fill out the word count and make a story
A casual look over www.LetsCallBull.com will demonstrate this being repeated (and called #BULL on) again and again when there isn’t any real news or anything to say about these target celebs.
It has even to the point where the latest Z List has it done to them. Take Summer Monteys-Fullam (someone who we’re sure people will say WHO? about in the near future) she’s currently a tabloid favourite after having had a high-profile relationship with Paul Hollywood (a famous TV celeb chef) that ended badly. Because of her thirst for fame and appearance whenever she does anything the paps jump on it for a story, but what about when she isn’t doing anything…
Simply go down her Instagram feed to find a photo and then describe it in painfully intricate detail to try and make up the word count whilst also ‘Linking Headlines To Keep A Story Going’ http://bit.ly/2p0Q0xb in a desperate bid to create interest. The skimpier the outfit or the more provocative the pose the more chance that picture will be used.
Its lazy reporting and keeping the audience spinning normally under some sort of Clickbait headline to really double down on the chance of taking your precious time to read about nothing.
Its not the worst crime committed (look at any of the blogs on our site to read about much worse ones https://www.letscallbull.com/blogs ) but it is getting worse and worth looking out for.
