Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been praised by charity Stonewall for its LGBT representation after its ban in Saudi Arabia.

The film, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the returning Steven Strange, features a lesbian couple in one scene (who are also referenced elsewhere in the film).

One of the main characters, America Chavez (played by Xochitl Gomez), also wears a pin of the Progress Pride flag, an updated design of the rainbow Pride flag created to celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQ community. While not much is said about her sexuality in the film, she is thought to be LGBT.

Sasha Misra, Associate Director of Communications and Campaigns at Stonewall told Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s fantastic to see visible representation of LGBTQ+ people in one of the world’s most popular franchises.

I Call True: With the release to the public of this film just yesterday its great to hear of LGBTQ+ support for it. All to often countries ban films for LGBTQ+ representation, as has been highlighted many times on LCB (link to latest in comments) but LGBTQ+ support never seems to be reported so at LCB were righting that wrong!

Saw this last night, so I don't want to spoil anything but it is a little bit more than a Pride pin.

IMO a very subtle part of the movie and if you get upset at that then you need to give your head a good shake.

Not a major role but good to see a more inclusive casing being shown here
