Space Jam: A New Legacy starring LeBron James and Looney Tunes characters slam dunked the North American box office with $31.7M during its opening weekend in 3,956 theaters.

Overseas, Malcolm D. Lee's $150M-budget live-action/animated sports sequel amassed an additional $23M from 54 territories - according to THR.

Space Jam currently holds a dismal 31% critic approval rating (out of 132 reviews), but audiences scored it 81% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite the fast-spreading coronavirus Delta variant, Space Jam managed to beat out Black Widow, which took in $26.3M at 4,275 domestic theatres.

I Call Bull: Easy BULL call on this as Black Widow took $87m in the US and £78m from only 46 territories in its opening weekend https://bit.ly/3zbunIL

Comparing this to it one the second week is not apples for apples so calling BULL
